CIVILIANS AND THE ARMED FORCES WORKING SIDE BY SIDE TO KEEP OUR NATION SECURE
At 170,000 Civilians strong, AFCS provides much of the muscle behind the might of the U.S. Air Force. We take the same oath, but we don't wear the uniform. We perform many of the same tasks, but we don't hold rank. We launch rockets, oversee and maintain the nation's constellation of Global Positioning Satellites (GPS), guard the country from cyberattacks, and do whatever it takes to maintain the Air Force's supremacy in air, space, and cyberspace. Whether it's conducting cutting-edge research in the world's most sophisticated labs, maintaining the equipment and infrastructure that allows the Air Force to be ready at a moment's notice, ensuring the health and wellbeing of Airmen and their families, or training Airmen to achieve the next level of proficiency behind every mission, every milestone, and every Airman, there's someone like you.
