ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF AIRMEN AND THEIR
FAMILIES IS THE AIR FORCE’S HIGHEST PRIORITY. SO MUCH SO,
WE’VE CREATED A NEW INITIATIVE TO DO JUST THAT.
Mission readiness is priority one for the U.S. Air Force. After all, when our Airmen are at their best, we’re at ours. Yet, the Air Force, like society at large, is not immune to destabilizing factors like drug abuse, crime, harassment and retaliation, domestic and child abuse, suicide, and violence. Such harmful behaviors, if left unchecked, negatively impact an individual’s ability to perform their duties and can lead to low morale, absenteeism, and reduced productivity, as well as place undue strain on relationships with family, co-workers, and superiors. The Air Force cannot be effective in its mission of protecting the United States if its own personnel are not motivated, healthy, and safe.
ADDRESSING THESE CHALLENGES IS ESSENTIAL. PREVENTING THEM, MORE SO.
Maintaining the well-being of service members and their families has been given such a high priority by the Department of Defense that it has launched a far-reaching, forward-leaning new initiative emphasizing the benefits early prevention has on maintaining military readiness.
The goal of the Integrated Primary Prevention Workforce (IPPW) is to empower a cadre of trained professionals, working shoulder to shoulder with Air Force leadership to craft effective policies, revamp and revise current practices, and orchestrate the implementation of comprehensive and multidimensional prevention programs that measurably reduce harmful behavior among Airmen and their families.
PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION STRATEGIES ACHIEVE THE BEST RESULTS THROUGH TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. THAT’S WHERE YOU COME IN.
Few occupations afford professionals the opportunity to make such a substantial and measurable impact on the health and well-being of tens of thousands of individuals and their families than a career at IPPW.
In recognition of the Defense Department-wide priority placed on preventing the causes of harmful behavior before they develop, AFCS will have numerous mission-critical job openings for dozens of occupations within the newly established IPPW career field. Direct Hiring Authority expedites job placement for each position.
There will be hundreds of new openings at locations across the United States and overseas for civilian professionals with public health or social science backgrounds or prior experience in the prevention of sexual assault, harassment, retaliation, domestic abuse, child abuse, and suicide.
